Heating Emergencies:
Lack of hot water or heating is generally considered an inconvenience and large call out fees can be avoided if you can wait until normal working hours before having the problem looked into. The majority of Heating systems in the UK are run from Gas Fired Boilers so make sure that any company you contact are Corgi Registered.
However, too much heat and overheating of hot water and central heating systems is potentially highly dangerous albeit a very rare occurance.
A major fault will have occurred as the boiler and boiler controls should have automatically shut down.
- Turn off the electricity supply to the boiler either at the fused spur switch (picture) usually sited next to the boiler or programmer or at the main fuse board, this will cut the gas supply to the boiler and it will shut down.
- Call out a competent Corgi Registered Engineer.
